Director of Benefits
Cathy Pridgeon
Biography:
One thing to know about me is that if I am not busy, I am bored. Since benefits are always changing and there are so many details to learn about every plan, the chance of boredom is pretty much non-existent.
Benefits can be confusing and overwhelming for clients so being able to communicate clearly is a must. I enjoy helping people and sharing my knowledge with them. There is nothing more satisfying than hearing, “Thank you so much. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions.” My goal with clients is to listen, understand, and use what I learn to create a package that they will consider valuable. It’s vitally important because it’s tied to the health and wellness of employees. After 20 years in the industry, my love and passion for what I do is as strong as ever. When I’m not working, I’m with family, reading, gardening and more reading.
Favorite junk food: Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs.
Best vacation ever: Our family rented a cabin in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and successfully “unplugged.” Our vacation was filled with laughter, easy conversation, and the peace and quiet of nature. There is nothing better than that.
Known around the office as: “Ask Cathy.” I have been with NEMR for so long in different departments that people come to me often and say, “remember that thing that happened 5 years ago? How did we handle it?” I often cannot remember why I walked into the kitchen, but I will most likely recall the details of 5 years ago and be able to offer my assistance.
My personal credo: There is power in silence. Listen with the intent to understand, not with the intent to reply.
Pet peeves: Vague requests with insufficient details. If you want my help, I need all the pieces of the puzzle.
My personal hero: My mom. She is the strongest person I know. She unknowingly shaped me into the person I am today.
My biggest phobia: Speaking in front of crowds, or on camera.
