Bob Klaiss

Biography:

Believe it or not, I was a machinist for almost 10 years. I intended to open my own shop but much of the work was being shipped overseas and I couldn’t compete with their prices. Instead, I obtained my insurance licenses and the rest is history. I’ve always been good with math and problem solving. With insurance, you always have limited resources and must figure out how to use those resources to provide the best for everyone involved.

Insurance is also about building trust and being compassionate. Empathy is critical to helping someone understand their benefits and choose the best plan for them and their families. People will shut down if they think you’re judging them or have an opinion about their circumstances. When I’m not at work, I’m either working on home renovation projects or planning family camping trips in our RV. I’m also an outdoor gear enthusiast—from inflatable kayaks to collapsible bowls.

Favorite junk food: Chocolate chip cookies (homemade by me!)

Little know trivia fact about me: I went to bartending school just for the fun of it.

Personal credo: Never betray trust and do what’s right for people.

A wiz at: Being a jack of all trades and a master of a few. Plumbing, electrical, cabinet making, working on vehicles, building a computer…If I get to use my hands and my brain, I’m in.

My celebrity encounter: I don’t really have any but I do hear all the time that I look like Ferris Bueller (Matthew Broderick).

My personal hero: My late Uncle Mike. He was the strongest person I’d ever known. He taught me quite a bit about perseverance in the face of insurmountable odds.

My biggest phobia: Snakes. I think they are cool and understand the purpose they serve; however, I’m not holding them for anything.

Best known for and appreciated by clients: Being helpful and understanding. Going the extra mile to make sure they get what they need.

Graduated: Camden County College
